MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MARYLAND SECTION NCNW- CHARTERED 1969
In keeping with Mary McLeod Bethune’s legacy which states, “I leave you, finally, a responsibility to our young people,” The Montgomery County NCNW Education Committee’s purpose is to provide high school girls of African descent with relevant tools for life and to prepare them for leadership. In addition, the section helps to develop cultural pride, and a strong sense of self, resiliency and social skills, thus empowering girls to make positive choices for their futures and to prepare them to lead others in the future. The 2023 Program year will focus on mental health, scholarship information and also work with high school girls and boys whose grade point average (GPAs) are below 2.0. By tutoring, mentoring, and providing incentives and awards, the goal is to increase their GPAs to 2.0 and above.
