MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MARYLAND SECTION NCNW- CHARTERED 1969
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the website of the National Council of Negro Women Montgomery County, Maryland Section, Inc. (NCNW MCMD.)
Mary McLeod Bethune founded our organization in 1935 in New York City. She was an educator, stateswoman, philanthropist, humanitarian, and civil rights activist. For over 50 years, NCNW MCMD has continued the legacy of Dr. Bethune to lead, advocate for and empower women of African descent, their families and communities. Our members have worked collectively to elevate our families and communities in Montgomery County. Our members are committed to building better communities through education, collaboration and community service.
Our members have fed the hungry, clothed the needy, cared for senior citizens, helped the homeless and mentored young ladies in middle school and high school.
Our National Chair, Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole, offered these inspiring words regarding our mission. “While it is true that without a vision the people perish, it is doubly true that without action the people and their vision perish as well.”
Please peruse our website to get more information on how we serve the Montgomery County community. Please don’t’ hesitate to contact NCNW MCMD if you wish to share in executing our mission.
Sincerely,
Millie West Wiggins
